"Merely" being an amateur photographer or film-maker shouldn't prevent you from being allowed to give free rein to your talent at stations!

As railway stations and trains serve as a major source of inspiration to amateur photographers or eager rail enthusiasts, SNCF has allowed the filming and photographing of rail equipment and facilities by the general public since 1 January 1989*.

However, although no special papers are required, it should be noted that tripods, field lighting equipment and flashes are not allowed to avoid any public nuisance. Please also note that this authorisation is only valid in areas accessible to the general public. You may not enter "off-limits" areas in order to film or take photographs.

* This tolerance may be suspended for specific reasons (e.g. maintenance work, events) or due to enhanced security measures (under the French government's 'vigipirate' plan).
